About Array Crew Company
Filmmaker AVA DuVernay founds array Crew, the mission of this platform is to connect below-the-line crew professionals from various backgrounds with producers and department heads. This platform is accessible in the United States and Canada.
Many major studios like Apple TV, Disney, Discovery, etc., supports Array Crew. They provide free membership for crew members under 600 diverse job.
The Challenge
Along with the expansion of the Arraycrew’s customer base, the requirement for computer resources also grew. As a result, the company had issues with scalability, availability, agility, dependability, and cost. They believed that increasing the number of servers would help. Array Crew needed a cost-effective and reliable solution.
The Solution
We designed perfect architecture to implement stability and high availability. We used Amazon EKS to host application using Kubernetes. Application-hosting Kubernetes nodes are configured in a private subnet and we used Load balancer to distribute the loads between the nodes. Kubernetes cluster is implemented for pods inside HPA (horizontal pod autoscaling).We simultaneously used CloudWatch for monitoring and Lambda services for notifying. Codepipeline was used to implement CI/CD and automate release pipelines for quick and dependable application updates.

AWS Services Used
- AWS EKS is a managed service, which allows us to run Kubernetes on AWS without having to maintain its own Kubernetes control plane.
- Amazon ECR is an managed container image registry service that is secure, scalable, and reliable. We used Amazon ECR to store the container images in private repositories.
- Amazon OpenSearch Service makes it easy to deploy, operate, and scale OpenSearch clusters in the AWS Cloud. Amazon OpenSearch Service supports OpenSearch and legacy Elasticsearch.
- AWS Code Build is a fully managed build service that runs, builds, and generates the artefacts needed for deployment while compiling the source code.
- AWS Code Pipeline is a fully managed continuous delivery service that helps to automate the release pipelines for fast and reliable application and infrastructure updates.
- Amazon VPC enables us to launch AWS resources into a virtual isolated network. Amazon VPC gives full control over virtual networking environment, including resource placement, connectivity, and security.
- Amazon CloudFront is used to reduce latency of web application to the users all around the world.
