IOOC is a reputed marketing company founded in the year 1995. They provide solutions and services to multiple organizations to level-up in their business. They interpret bulk volume of data and transform it into valuable insights to unlock the business possibilities of the organization.
The Challenge:
IOOC hosted all the data base in their on-premise infrastructure. Things went well with this in the initial days. later, their business hit the jackpot and so the data volume surged to TB. They faced challenges with scalability and struggled to monitor their infrastructure. Their on-premise infrastructure didn’t withstand their business requirements which in turn demanded additional cost for networking equipment’s and computing resources. At that point, IOOC needed a reliable and cost-effective solution.
The Solution:
Looking at those factors, cloud engineers at continuuminnovations crafted a unique cloud migration strategy to shift the critical business applications to the cloud efficiently. We decided to proceed with Lift and Shift approach. Our experts split the migration process into two for migrating .NET applications and database.
For .NET applications, we copied the web applications data from on-premise servers and deployed it into the AWS S3 and then, sent the entire data to Amazon EC2 and configured IIS based upon the applications.
For database migration, we copied the complete backup of the database from the local database server to an S3 bucket. We have restored the databases into the AWS RDS server using the database backup files in S3.
We incorporated AWS DMS (Data Migration Service) to replicate on going live data changes from on-premise to AWS RDS server to ensure zero data loss during the migration process.

Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) is a managed services which is easier to set up, operate, and scale relational databases in the cloud. It allows to choose from seven popular database engines like Amazon Aurora with MySQL compatibility, Amazon Aurora with PostgreSQL compatibility, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC)
Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) enables us to launch AWS resources into a virtual isolated network. Amazon VPC provides full control over virtual networking environment, including resource placement, connectivity, and security.
Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)
Amazon EC2 provides scalable computing capacity in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. It allows us to add virtual servers based upon the requirements
Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3)
Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) is an object storage service. With this, one can store small as well as large volume of data. It’s cost-effective storage classes and easy-to-use management features, allows us to optimize costs, organize data, and configure fine-tuned access controls to meet specific business needs.
AWS Client VPN
AWS Client VPN is a AWS client-based VPN service that allows us to securely access the resources in AWS from any location with OpenVPN
AWS Data Migration Service (DMS)
AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) is a AWS managed migration and replication service that helps to migrate the on-going data to the AWS securely with zero data loss.
The Impact
After the successful cloud migration, IOOC is no more worried about their scalability issue. They can add virtual servers whenever needed with a few clicks effortlessly instead of complex technical process. Now, they can focus only in their business progression rather than worrying about the volume of the data.
